The Lodge “Adonis” No. 5 in the Orient of Nicosia was founded on 17 April 1961.
Eleven Brethren, members of the Lodge “Solon” No. 55 in the Orient of Nicosia, addressed the following letter to the Council of the Grand Lodge of Greece:

The letter was signed by the following eleven Brethren: Kostas Themistokleous; David Konstantinou; Mikis Tingirides; D. Fessas, physician; Achilleas Ioannides; Melis Tingirides; Rogiros Chr. Michaelides; Achilleas K. Zavallis; Charidimos Ieronymides; I. Karagiannakis; and K. G. Tsellos, physician.
Approval in principle was granted by the Grand Lodge of Greece in its reply, Ref. No. 869, dated 25 May 1961 and signed by the then Grand Secretary General, the Illustrious Brother Pan. Hadjipetrou. On 5 June 1961, the first special meeting was held, at which it was unanimously decided that Brother Kostas Themistokleous should occupy the Chair of the Worshipful Master. The provisional Officers were then unanimously elected as follows: Senior Warden, Brother Ioannis Karagiannis; Junior Warden, Brother Kostas Tsellos; Orator, Brother Charidimos Ieronymides; Secretary, Brother David Konstantinou; Treasurer, Brother Achilleas Zavallis; Senior Expert, Brother Mikis Tingirides; Almoner, Brother Menelaos Tingirides; Master of Ceremonies, Brother Rogiros Michaelides; Tyler, Brother Achilleas Ioannides; and Architect Steward, Brother Dimitrios Fessas.
It was unanimously decided that the new Lodge should take the name “Adonis”, and the relevant documentation was subsequently drawn up and sent to the Grand Lodge of Greece. On 21 June 1961, a letter from the Grand Lodge of Greece, Ref. No. 1049, signed by the Grand Master, Brother Thr. Vlisides, and the Grand Secretary General, Brother Pan. Hadjipanos, gave notice that, at its meeting 20 June 1961, the Council of the Grand Lodge of Greece had unanimously approved the founding of the Lodge under the distinctive title “Adonis” and with the number 115.
On 14 October 1961, the first regular meeting of the Worshipful Lodge “Adonis” No. 115 was held, at which the first Officers were elected as follows: Worshipful Master, Bro∴ Mikis Tingirides; Senior Warden, Bro∴ Charidimos Ieronymides; Junior Warden, Bro∴ David Konstantinou; Orator, Bro∴ Dimitrios Fessas; Secretary, Bro∴ Achilleas Ioannides; Treasurer, Bro∴ Achilleas Zavallis; Senior Expert, Bro∴ Rogiros Michaelides; and Tyler, Bro∴ Menelaos Tingirides.
On 12 November 1961, the Lodge was consecrated in a ceremony of particular splendour.
A milestone in the history of Cypriot Freemasonry and of the Lodge “Adonis” was the founding of the Grand Lodge of Cyprus in 2006, when the Lodge’s number changed from 115, under the Auspices of the Grand Lodge of Greece, to 5, under the Auspices of the Grand Lodge of Cyprus.
Since its foundation, the Lodge “Adonis” No. 5 has taken an active part in all Masonic activities. It can point to a rich record of Masonic work, including high-quality meetings, publications and charitable activities, as well as its twinning with the Lodge “Ypsilantis” No. 41 of Athens, with which it has exchanged visits and held joint workings, and joint workings with other Cypriot Lodges.
On 11 November 2011, the Lodge celebrated fifty years of life and, above all, honoured the Brethren who founded it and laboured selflessly and tirelessly, so that its members today may take pride in their mother Lodge and in the work it has accomplished over half a century.
