In the year 2009, on the 7th day of April, under the Auspices of the Grand Lodge of Cyprus, a new and life-giving Light appeared in the Orient of Limassol with the founding of the Worshipful Lodge “Akropolis Amathousia” No. 9. This foundation was not merely an event in time, but an act both substantive and symbolic, springing from the longing of chosen Brethren to build, within themselves and in the world around them, a Temple of virtue, wisdom and harmony.

The founders of the Lodge were the following Brethren: Bro∴ Fotakis T. Apostolides; Bro∴ Giannakis K. Oikonomou; Bro∴ Andreas L. Michaelides; Bro∴ Nikos Z. Nikolaides; Bro∴ Alexandros A. Fylaktou; Bro∴ Stelios G. Orfanides; Bro∴ Antonis N. Hadjigiannakis; Bro∴ Neofytos N. Neofytou Like true craftsmen of the Word and of Character, they laid the foundation stone upon solid ground, labouring in concord, in silence and in full awareness of the sacred nature of Masonic work. Throughout its journey in Time, the Lodge has walked unwaveringly along the path of Light, guided by its successive Worshipful Masters, who, as bearers of Tradition, have preserved and handed down the ineffable teachings of the Order:

In 2012, the Lodge organised a charity event in aid of the Centre for Preventive Paediatrics, with the Greek composer Brother Mimis Plessas as guest of honour. He graced the occasion by performing a selection of his own works, the evening was of a special artistic brilliance.

In 2013, as part of its reflective Labours, the Lodge held a major presentation on the work of Nikos Kazantzakis, highlighting man’s eternal struggle to transcend his limits and to attain Freedom and Truth - a path closely akin to Masonic initiation.

In 2016, in an act of the highest symbolism and fraternal union, the Lodge was twinned with the Worshipful Lodge “Europa 57” in the Orient of Brussels, a bond that affirmed the universal character of Freemasonry and strengthened the ties between Brethren beyond the bounds of place and time.

At present, the Lodge numbers sixteen active members and one honorary active member, and it is administered by ten Officers, who are responsible for its orderly functioning and the advancement of its Labours. Furthermore, two of its members serve on the Grand Council of the Grand Lodge of Cyprus, contributing actively to the wider Masonic work.

Today, the Lodge continues to labour in silence and order, “from Darkness to Light”, faithfully guarding the symbols, traditions and values of the Order, and contributing to the moral and spiritual regeneration of mankind.
